She has an unhealthy obsession with eco jewellery, design and creativity. In fact in her school leavers book, she was awarded ‘Little Miss Artsy’.
Bridie started out as a Product Development and Commercial Partnership Manager in the charity sector and after traveling the world decided it was time to take over the family business. Bridie formed the idea of Sun Souls when in Bali completing her Yoga Teacher training. Sun Souls combines the joy of creativity many have experienced at her family run stall in Lyme Regis from choosing colours and beads for hair braids and brings it into the homes of many, by creating joyful creative moments at home.
Bridie and her Mum started trading in disused shop doorways. Creating pop up shops, around the South West of the UK. They have spent years perfecting their craft, building a loyal customer base, with their longest standing customer being with them for 20 years.
They are proud to only use wooden beads, cotton threads, eco glitters and ethically sourced materials.
The Sun Souls range of kits, gifts and accessories have been featured on shopping TV and are now available wholesale across the world.
Times have changed, with today’s knowledge of fast fashion and online consumerism, we are proud to say Sun Souls has joined the movement to do better and be better in business for our customers, community and planet. We are a sustainable accessory and gifting brand, selling quality, fair priced kits and by doing so, contributing to building jobs in the UK’s arts and crafts sector. As a proud employer of local young people, we pride ourselves on being one of the only employers to offer training and a work place for creative young people in Lyme Regis. Thus ensuring we contribute to the growth of the creative UK market.
DESIGNED AND CREATED WITH SOUL
Sun Souls celebrates developing the finest quality UK-produced gifts and kits which focus on creating lasting creative moments, rather than 5 min plastic gifts which end up in the landfill. Our full range of Sun Souls kits are a sustainable collection; designed, hand picked and made in the UK. We are currently working on launching limited edition kits made from surplus jewellery from UK brands, which means we are saving these items from landfill and creating beautiful limited edition kits!
MAKING AN IMPACT WITH OUR DESIGN AND PACKAGING
Choosing recycled packaging products is a positive and no brainer step towards helping the environment and reduce the amount of waste which would otherwise go to landfill. We have thought sustainably with every single element of our kits and packaging so please remember most of the packaging materials is recyclable, so try to reuse, recycle or compost it if you can!
Personalised kit boxes:
These are made from recycled cardboard, to recycle simply peel of the ‘name’ sticker and pop in your at home recycling. The ink stamped on the box is Vegan and means the box can be recycled in with the other cardboard. These boxes can also be recycled and converted into a new product, therefore helping to save material, reduce waste and lower greenhouse gas emissions.
Gift wrap:
We use 100% recycled tissue paper and gift wrap paper, which has been produced from sustainable sources, this is then too recyclable (once you remove the sticker). In addition the name tag is recyclable and the natural raffia tie is recyclable or you can reuse in a creative project.
Cotton zip cases:
We use these as our ‘kit bags’ all your kits come in these Sun Souls zip cases. We designed these to replace the larger plastic zip lock cases which our first wave of kits came in. Even though our original plastic kits were recyclable, it did not sit right with us to still be making a commercial demand on plastic, and putting it out into the ecosystem.
Cotton drawstring bags:
We swapped out plastic zip lock bags to keep the kit beads and charms in three years ago and in their place we levelled up to a beautiful Sun Souls draw string cotton bag. Which is both recyclable and reusable.
Beads:
We swapped out plastic beads in recent years for wooden beads and it is one of the best decisions we ever made!
Mailing bags:
Our mailing bags are made from potato starch, these bags are completely biodegradable and compostable.
How to guides:
These are made from recycled paper and are recyclable.
